Test and Inspection PlanningIn order to guarantee the adequate quality of components, forms (e.g., measurement sheets) are prepared with specifications for the tests and inspections to be carried out and tolerances to be achieved. Generally valid standards (e.g., DIN), regulations, and the customer´s wishes must be taken into account.
Within the scope of the existing quality management, a quality assurance plan is prepared at the request of the client for the quality assurance measures to be applied. This quality assurance plan forms the overall framework for systematic securing of the project concerned.
Incoming Goods and Shipping InspectionThe inspections planning department draws up the binding standards for incoming goods inspection on the basis of the technical supply specifications standards, material data sheets, technical contractual specifications and QM instructions. The basis for this is DIN ISO 2859. This ensures that all purchased products comply with the specified quality requirements.
In the incoming goods/shipping inspection the incoming goods inspection planning specifications are implemented:The incoming goods/shipping inspection department´s tasks include:
- Coordinating the incoming goods quality assurance sub-section within the scope of the legal regulations
- Implementing alternative incoming goods concepts with selected suppliers
- Integrating statistical methods- Specifying the shipping inspection activities and maintaining coordination with all specialized shipping activity departments
- Clarifying and correcting the causes of non-conformance with the suppliers
Material TestingThe specialist material testing department at PFW has the following duties and facilities:
- Destructive and non-destructive material tests
- Precision measurement room, metallography, photo and chemical laboratory
- Monitoring the heat treatment systems
- Weld testing
- Participation in the qualification of materials
From Incoming Goods through to Individual TestingQuality management in the aircraft industry means complying with the particularly high-quality standards for product quality, customer satisfaction, deadline and delivery reliability. On the following pages we would like to introduce you to the tasks and objectives of PFW´s quality management.
Product and Process Quality AssuranceThe PVS (product and process quality assurance) of PFW, which provides part of the CS personnel (certifying staff) and Class 4 testers for aviation equipment, is responsible for compliance with the design, production, and quality specifications in the production process.
This is achieved by:
- Continuous production monitoring
- Performing process audits
- Part testing and follow-up tests in production
- Sporadic production monitoring of a component
- Monitoring the licensed testers for compliance with the specified testing and inspection tasks
- Permanent monitoring of the production job routing card with respect to the process sequence and perfect documentation
.
DocumentationThe following main tasks are specified for the Documentation department:
- Setting up and coordinating an economic documentation and complaints system
- Preparing documents for components requiring mandatory documentation
- Defining, setting down, and planning QM specific IV technical sequences
- Preparing test certificates (release note, certificates, etc)
- Documenting the qualification of materials and semi-finished products
ArchivingArchiving the quality management system includes:
- Archiving documentation such as lifetime files, JAA form one, test certificates, construction deviations, COC (certificate of conformity)
- Coordination and maintenance of archiving of production jobs
Complaints ManagementAmong other things, complaints management deals with:
- Coordinating complaints issued or received within PFW as well as test reports prepared in the production areas, incoming goods and materials testing departments. This also includes deploying an effective on-site complaints management system
- Recording, processing, evaluating, distributing, and preparing construction deviations
- Recording, processing, evaluating, and monitoring the measures taken to deal with customer complaints
- Constant dialog with internal and external interfaces (design and structural calculation departments) to clarify discrepancies and draw up repair solutions
Internal Quality AuditA quality audit is (DIN EN ISO 8402, term 4.9) a systematic and independent investigation in order to determine whether the quality-related activities and the associated instructions are actually realized and suitable for achieving the targets and objectives. In order to determine whether the quality management system
a) fulfils the requirements of the international standard EN9100 and the official requirements JAR21 ´G´ and JAR145;
b) is effectively realized and maintained, regular internal audits are carried out in all departments.
Internal Audits Serve the Following Purposes:- point out weak points (specified/actual comparison)
- give rise to improvements (correction)
- monitor the corrective action (effectiveness)
A differentiation is made between a system quality audit, process quality audit, product quality audit, and service quality audit.
Supplier Evaluation and Inspection PlanningPFW´s supplier evaluation department is responsible for approving and monitoring suppliers of production materials/processes as well as for product qualifications and maintaining the corresponding data in the IT system.
System approvals/monitoring are carried out by qualified AECMA-EASE system auditors who received further training in topics relevant for aviation in addition to their qualification to DIN ISO 10011-2. EN 9100 / 9110 / 9120 and QSF-A form the basis of their work. Product qualifications are dealt with on the basis of the relevant product documents and with the participation of the design/development capacities available in our company.
PFW Aerospace AG is a member of the BDLI (Bundesverband der Deutschen Luft- und raumfahrt Industrie) and is actively represented in the procurement task group as well as being a member of AECMA-EASE (Association of European Aerospace Industries - European Aerospace Supplier Evaluation for the European Prime Manufactures Aerospace).
Through our involvement in the QAG ( Quality Assurance Group) within the AECMA-EASE, we are one of the active members.
